Why Mercury is the most Spiritual Planet   Leave a comment

I think therefore I am – Descartes

I think, Is the only thing I am certain about whether the material world exists in some form of reality or not the only thing I know is my ideas of the world and people is created by my mind.  This is ruled by Mercury, my mind the creator of worlds. The only thing we can know for a certainty is we think, whether this world is purely a creation of my mind or there is some type of reality interpretated by my mind is unknown and probably unknowable. But the one central agreement of both views is the importance of my mind, either my mind has created everything or my mind has created ideas about a material world and has constructed an interpretation of these ideas and thoughts so vivid I for the main part view them as reality.

My mind may be the only thing in existence, I cannot know for I cannot go beyond the ideas and thoughts of my mind. I cannot go beyond them because it is not my eyes that see, my hands that feel or my tongue that tastes it is my mind that creates an idea of these thing and the sensation of feeling, tasting and seeing. My mind is the creator of everything and it has no beginning or end it exists as an infinite form of ideas and thoughts.

It is my mind that has created ideas of sacredness, of divine, of being and it is my mind that can be argued to exist out with the material world and it is because my mind is capable of existence outside of the material world that I -my mind can be said to be spiritual without material form.  My mind is a spiritual being which may have created the appearance of a material world or which may be interacting with a material world but my mind is not material in nature it is spiritual. My mind is the spiritual creator of the universe in which I have the idea I live in, my mind is the creator of the dream in which I am typing this at this moment of time, my mind is the creator of concepts such as time.

Thus Mercury is also ruler of the spiritual infinite nature of me, of the dream.  Mercury is the creator of all my worlds the material and the spiritual and each evolve with every new idea and thought I have on them.

Mercury in my natal chart thus takes on a strong significance as it represents the infinite possibilities of my ideas to create / recreate both the material and spiritual world. The sign and house it is in as well as aspects will show how I tend to create ideas how I deal with conflicting ideas and how these ideas evolve throughout the dream.

Each aspect has infinite possibilities   Leave a comment

Each aspect in the natal chart has infinite possibilities as does each sign in the natal chart.  We tend to want to fit astrology into easy to understand definitions but there are infinite meanings to each sign of the Zodiac.  When we describe a sign we tend to stick to common well-known meanings but exploration of each sign shows there are infinite layers of meaning to be found.

Lets start with Aries, Aries represent the drive within us all to survive, sometimes this can be described as selfish but this is common to all living organisms they compete for resources and they have to out do their competitors if they want to live. That is a basic meaning of Aries but that energy or drive to survive has infinite possibilities within the natal chart, competition is one means of survival and adapting to extreme environments is another but does the meaning end there.  There are areas of the brain associated with primitive survival instincts such as the Amygdala which is associated with fear, aggression, social interaction and sexual orientation.  So Aries can also have an effect on the function of these areas, survival when resources are sparse is also linked to increased intelligence especially problem solving as a means of optimising the resources one has available this is important to understand because this skill is mainly represented by Virgo which is quincunx to Aries. reproducing offspring that survive to adulthood is also another aspect of the survival drive, Aries therefore represents sexual desire to reproduce which may include displays to attract partners but it also represents a desire to protect and nourish offspring to give them the best possible start in life.  These aspects of Aries take on some of the energies found in its opposite and squares, as well as the sextiles and trines.  Aries utilises all of these aspects where there are planets in those signs; aspects of their energy can be utilised by Aries when necessary.

However when Planet/s in Aries are in aspect to planets in other signs there is a tendency to utilise those energizes more often than others but that does not mean those other facets cannot be utilised to great effect. However when two planets are in aspect they can also utilise the energies of other signs and filter the functions of those signs through the planets involved.  Thus when we are looking at the natal chart it is important to understand that for each planet we can not only look into their sign and house but how that planet is likely to utilise the energies within the whole chart and this gives a richer and more vibrant understanding of the potential of that planet in each individual’s life.

New Moon in Virgo August 2014   Leave a comment

Earth virgo

photography by Roger Hunter Photography

The new moon in Virgo conjunts Regulus the star in the heart of the lion.  Regulus associated with royalty and is the Star of Bethlehem and David, The most famous conjunction to Regulus was Jupiter (Zeus / God) in 3BC before Jupiter went on to conjunct Venus which is held to have foretold the birth of Jesus.  The sun and moon conjunct Regulus as the asteroid Ceres in Scorpio is trine Neptune, Venus in Leo is trine Uranus, Mercury in Virgo is opposite Chiron the healer in Pisces whilst Jupiter in Leo is square Vesta.

What does this mean, the energy of this new moon will start to be felt from the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter on the 17th – 18th when the moon in Gemini squares Regulus and we will begin again to have faith in the power of unconditional love and compassion as a means of changing the world.  As Venus moves to trine with Uranus we will find ourselves becoming more altruistic in our outlook on life and willing to make the changes necessary to be more compassionate and nurturing.  At the same time Ceres begins to trine Neptune and ideas of restoring natural balance of nature may become a theme as well.  Mercury opposite Chiron will encourage people to talk about past hurts and on a global scale we may find a way of healing old pains and animosity between others enabling us all to move forward.  At the same time Jupiter is square Vesta which represents the heart or centre of who we are giving us a strong belief that we can accomplish the impossible and with all these aspects working together we might.  The week from the 17th – 25th August holds much potential for mankind and the opportunity to truly make a new start globally!

Full Moon in Aquarius   Leave a comment

aquarius moon

Lady Luna dons the sky blue robe of Aquarius the altruist  as she and Uranus ask us to put ourselves in the shoes of others this full moon.  With Uranus Sextile the full moon in Aquarius and trine the Sun and Mercury in Leo we are being asked to contemplate the events of recent weeks; with Gaza, Ukraine and the centenary of WWI being the focus of attention.  We are being asked to go beyond our normal concerns and to reflect upon the world around us.  With Saturn square both the Sun, Mercury and the Moon we are being grounded in the reality of the consequences of the choices we all make as part of humanity.

Take this time to reflect on the bigger picture in life and what inheritance we leave future generations.  This full moon is the biggest of the year and is a reminder that even in the darkest times the light of hope, compassion and love never truly leaves us.  This is especially true of this full moon when Venus is conjunct Varuna in Cancer – the moon’s sign; Varuna God of water and the celestial oceans as well as morals is said to have the stars of the sky as all seeing eyes and this full moon he will be inspiring all of us to look within our own hearts and reconnect with the light of love and compassion.

Mercury in aspect to Uranus   Leave a comment

Mercury conjunct Uranus signals a meeting of minds, this relationship is full of ideas, invention and spontaneity. You can be a pretty mad fun-loving couple and attract a wide social circle.  With this aspect there is a very wild imaginative eroticism that explores different means of sexual expression within the relationship.

❤ ❤ ❤

Mercury in dynamic aspect to Uranus, square or opposite, inspires both parties to open up to new perspectives and original ideas. You can be quite a wild and wacky couple and are often the life and soul of the party when together.  Both parties can challenge the other in the bedroom to go beyond there comfort zone and to experiment, as long as neither feel pressured this can be good and stop sex becoming stale.

❤ ❤ ❤

Mercury in harmonic aspect to Uranus, sextile or trine, is fun-loving aspect and one that ensures that you never get bored being in each others company.  Both will feel comfortable enough to be daring and bold in the bedroom without feeling pressured.

❤ ❤ ❤

Mercury in aspect to Neptune synastry   Leave a comment

Mercury the planet of imagination and thought meets Neptune the planet of illusion and intuition.

❤ ❤ ❤

Mercury in dynamic aspect to Neptune, conjunction, square or opposite, creates issues with communication.  Neptune person could come across as dishonest to the Mercury person but it is more likely that Neptune has been misunderstood and failed to correct any misconceptions that have arisen.  This aspect far from being fatal to a relationship requires honesty from both parties and a conscious effort to improve the clarity of communication between the two.  Neptune can stimulate the Mercury imagination and open up the mind to greater possiblities.

❤ ❤ ❤

Mercury in harmonious aspect to Neptune, sextile and trine, gives flights of fancy and daydreams shared even if they are never acted upon.  There is a tendency for both parties to be more forgiving of each others faults and there may be a sense of spoken language being unnecessary as both seem to know what the other is thinking.  There is a risk that the relationship will be more of a meeting of minds than physical but a good aspect to Mars or Venus will prevent this being the case.

❤ ❤ ❤

Mercury Quincunx or semi sextile Neptune may lead to a great deal of misunderstandings where the Neptune person can’t understand the Mercury person’s lack of intuition or faith in the possibilities of life and the Mecury person feels Neptune has their head in the clouds and is totally unrealistic.

❤ ❤ ❤

Mercury quintile or biquintile Neptune will add an imaginative touch to the relationship.

Moon in aspect to Sun in Synastry   Leave a comment

Sun Moon tree

Moon in aspect to the sun gives us an ability to understand each other on an emotional level.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon conjunct sun, this dynamic aspect gives vital energy to both partners.  They intuitively understand and support each other, both reflecting qualities that the other admires. This aspect means you are able to support each other and feel a strong bond that keeps both parties together during the difficult times we all endure.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon semi-sextile sun, you both have very different outlooks on life but are capable of seeing things from each others point of view.  When it comes to ideas on raising a family you both have different outlooks but are able to talk things over, family means completely different things to you both but blending the best of both world can provide a unique upbringing for any children.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon sextile sun, you are generally in harmony with each other and go together like a horse and cart.  although you both have different outlooks these harmonise easily and you tune into each other well. Both will feel happy being with each other and supporting their partner in times of need.  With this aspect there is a balance of personalities that make both more rounded as a couple.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon semi-square sun, you have the uncanny ability to set each other off, this relationship is a dynamic and passionate one.  With lots of disagreements you need to be careful where this trend leads but if you are both mature this relationship makes you re-exam your views and opinions about life, there is an intense attraction at play here and powerful energy dynamics.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon quintile sun, this relationship seems to work well although it may not have the intensity of some relationships you know how to work together as a team and to balance each others weaknesses and strengths.  This relationship is warm and practical and has the stability necessary for a long-term commitment.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon square sun, you may argue black is white with each other but there is something that draws and attracts you to one another like moths to a flame.  This relationship is fiery and passionate but both parties are equally intense and although there may be many disputes neither party is a victim of the other both are intensely fierce when it comes to defending one another against the outside world.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon trine Sun, you two are cut from the same cloth and may believe each other to be the best thing since sliced bread however there can be a lack of dynamism in this relationship because you tend to agree on most things, you just need the odd occasional dispute to add some passion and you have everything.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon biquintile Sun you may be chalk and cheese but somehow it works your differences seem to harmonise with each other both having qualities the other seems to lack together you make a good team much to the amazement of family and friends.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon quincunx sun, you have no idea about what goes on in your partners head and that gives this relationship an air of sexy mystery you will never understand each other.  There is something sexy about your partner that you just cannot fathom out but it intrigues you.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon opposite Sun, you too have an instant attraction you both feel intensely about your relationship although you tend to drive each other mad you wouldn’t swap your partner for all the tea in china.  There are plenty of arguments but a great deal of harmony between you both too, you balance each other out and are equal partners in this relationship.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon in aspect to Moon   Leave a comment

inverted stars

Aspects between the moon of each couple, show how they connect emotionally.

Moon conjunct moon, you are intuitively connected and can finish off each other’s sentences.  You both feel the same way about things which means you often lack a difference of perspective which can make you both narrow in your outlook.  However you have an overwhelming sense of family and belonging with each other and can be quite happy in your own little bubble just the two of you.  Only trouble is you both tend to feel down simultaneously which makes it hard for you to pick each other up.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon semi-sextile moon, you understand each other’s outlook on life but know you are both individuals with your own individual perspectives and as such you respect each others emotional strengths and differences.  When one of you is down the other can usually help them cope and what affects one of you doesn’t seem to affect the other, this is good at helping to create stability and interdependency.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon sextile moon, you get where each other is coming from emotionally and can easily relate on an emotional level towards each other. although you are different you have an emotional harmony and natural empathy for what the other is feeling and are sympathetic when the other is feeling low.  This is a sure sign of compatibility within a relationship.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon semi-square moon, you are both intense in your emotional feeling for each other, there may be many passionate arguments with this dynamic but there is also an intense emotional connection to one another.  This relationship is fiery, passionate and consuming for both parties.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon quintile moon, you have differences in emotional responses but they can easily be harmonised creating a good support structure for each other both parties can be good listeners and sounding boards for the other and help them move forward with emotional issues.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon square moon, you are obsessive and intense when it comes to your relationship with each other, both of you are irresistibly drawn to each other and sparks inevitably fly because feelings between you are so intense, this can lead to stormy arguments and intense moments but neither of you seem to be able to resist the others pull for too long.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon trine moon, you both seem to finish each others sentences and know exactly how each other is going to respond.  Although you are both different your outlooks are remarkable similar and you have a natural and intuitive connection to each other on an emotional level that gives both the security and independence needed to be truly themselves.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon biquintile Moon you may be different but you both can relate to how each other is feeling and offer each other love and support when times are hard and one of you is struggling.  You have both got the ability to ground each other in times of stress making your relationship work through issues and hard-times.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon quincunx moon, who is that mysterious figure half-lit and shimmering in the distance, you find it hard to instinctively relate emotionally with each other but that mystery just adds to the allure of this relationship because your partner is an enigma an unsolvable puzzle that can drive you insane at times.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon opposite Moon, there may be plenty of thunder and lightning because this relationship has an electrified air to it.  You understand your emotional differences well and they balance out but the spark in this relationship will never dull down but always reignite the flames of emotional passions, this is an intense affair of the heart for both involved.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon in aspect to Venus in synastry   2 comments

beneath concrete skies

Moon in aspect to Venus in synastry shows how we express our love for each other.

Moon conjunct, trine or sextile Venus,

“The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the endless skies, my love”.

All of these aspects indicate a tendency to see each other through rosy-tinted spectacles, you definitely see the best in your partner and there is sweet music playing when you are with each other, these aspects denote pure and long-lasting affection for each other.  This aspect is one of the best to have in a relationship whether romantic or friends there is a deep unconditional love.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon in dynamic aspect to Venus – square, semi-square & opposite,

Sexy, everything about you so sexy
You don’t even know what you got
You really hit my spot
Oh yeah, yeah
And you’re so innocent
Please don’t take this wrong cos it’s a compliment

There is something irresistibly sexy about your partner they have some sort of magnetic pull that makes you go weak at the knees whenever you see them this response is not likely to dim with time either.  This is an intense emotional relationship for both and feeling between both run deep.

❤ ❤ ❤

Venus quintile or biquintile moon,

When the little blue clerk
In the middle of his work
Starts a tune to the moon up above
It is nature that is all
Simply telling us to fall in love

And that’s why birds do it, bees do it
Even educated fleas do it
Let’s do it, let’s fall in love

There is something sweet about these aspects, has the feel of old-fashioned romantic chivalry out of the pages of a historical romance.  There is a gentleness and refinement that is exquisite and endearing between you both.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon quincunx Venus,

She’s Venus in Blue Jeans
Mona Lisa with a pony tail
She’s a walkin’ talkin’ work of art
She’s the girl who stole my heart

My Venus in Blue Jeans
Is the Cinderella I adore
She’s my very special angel too
A fairy tale come true

the mysterious God or Goddess, from some dream elusive and unpredictable she/ he seems to glide into your life causing an inner turmoil you just can’t quite understand.  This person’s aura of mystery enthralls you and keeps you waiting for more, you may not understand why they have this effect on you but you like it.

❤ ❤ ❤

fire

Moon conjunct Mars, you have a tendency to light each others fires, there is plenty of sparks flying between you both, and passions tend to spiral between you.  With this aspect both need to remember that the moon can only handle so many arguments and as fiery as this relationship is you need to ensure that the fights do not begin to replace the passionate emotional expression of desire.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon sextile or trine Mars, you are in tune with each other physically and there is a harmony between emotional and physical expression in your relationship.  Both of you feel a strong connection to each other and can be very protective of each other.  This also creates strong physical attraction between both people and is just as powerful as a Venus / Mars aspect.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon square or opposite Mars,  you two ignite in each others presence, this is a very passionate relationship however these dynamic aspects can change to anger and rage in certain circumstances.  Both parties need to be aware of this and mature enough to spot these tendencies so they can be nipped in the bud.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon quintile or biquintile Mars there is a chemistry here that is subtle yet beautiful, it may not be flames of desire but it is definitely a romantic sunset sky on some tropical beach.  There is a harmony in your natures that blends and transforms both of you.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon quincunx Mars, you have a habit of igniting each others flames without realising what you are doing, this relationship is very instinctual in nature – the less you think about it and the more you both respond intuitively to one another the easier the flow of the relationship becomes.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon in aspect to Jupiter in synastry   Leave a comment

image zeus

Moon conjunct, opposite and square Jupiter,

this aspect activates the positive sunny side of the moon person, who feels extra special in the presence of the jupiter person.  This energy has an uplifting effect but both parties must ensure they don’t allow it to turn them into a couple who behave self-righteously because that would be a waste of opportunity to explore and open up each others worldview and enrich both parties experience of life.  Some with this aspect may come from different cultures and backgrounds and will work to blend these differing cultures into their relationship.  both parties may feel the desire to have a family together, with this aspect.

❤ ❤ ❤

Jupiter sextile or trine Moon,

this aspect generally shows that the two of you have good feelings for each other and enjoy each other’s company. This relationship is likely to be spiritually and morally uplifting as long as both parties keep their feet on the ground and do not over-estimate their own morality. The world looks better when you are together and this aspect will actually help you both to cope with any stormy weather in your relationship as you will both be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. In a marriage, this aspect instills a desire for children and makes it more likely that you will have them.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon quintile or biquintile Jupiter,

you see the best in each other and feel more capable of facing the world together.  Both of you may feel the urge to settle down and start a family with this aspect.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon quincunx Jupiter,

this aspect denotes that you both feel good together although neither of you understands why you know the other is intuitively capable of raising a smile on your face when the chips are down.

❤ ❤ ❤

Moon in aspect to saturn in Synastry   Leave a comment

inverted-stars1.jpg

Moon conjunct, opposite or square Saturn, this relationship can feel heavy and restrictive at times as both feel an intense duty and responsibility for each other.  There is often a fated feeling with relationships that have this dynamic, however the moon person may feel too restricted emotionally and begin to resent the Saturn person, it is important for both to understand the energy involved so the Saturn person can ease off and the moon person realizes that the more they can express love the more relaxed the Saturn person will become part of this restrictive energy is caused by Saturn’s insecurity.

❤ ❤ ❤

Saturn sextile and trine Moon, this relationship is very likely to be long-term and offers both a sense of security and belonging.  There is a responsible and practical dynamic at play which enables both parties to weather any storms as a couple.  Both take this relationship seriously and are committed.  Saturn supports the moon person and helps them put their emotions into perspective and is usually their shoulder to cry on this aspect works better when Saturn is male but works very well for females too.

❤ ❤ ❤

Saturn quintile and biquintile Moon, there is a solid foundation in this relationship which enables both parties to work together as a team and build a strong bond together.

❤ ❤ ❤

Saturn quincunx moon, difficulty understanding the practicalities involved in a long term relationship together.  This aspect requires intuitive understanding of the needs for stability and open expression within the relationship.

❤ ❤ ❤

Sun in aspect to Sun Synastry   Leave a comment

Sun conjunct Sun works best for the sign of gemini who are attracted to their twin.  For others there is something too close to themselves for this aspect to go beyond friendship.  Both understand each other very well but they have the same up and down cycle which means it is harder to support each other during the low periods.

❤ ❤ ❤

Sun sextile or trine Sun makes life easy for both parties to get along and understand where the other is coming from. They are naturally great friends as well within the relationship.  This aspect even if the orb is large has a great dynamic for friendship within the relationship.

❤ ❤ ❤

Sun opposite or square Sun makes the relationship more passionate and dynamic.  This aspect adds some fire and passion to the relationship and works well with fixed signs in particular who are attracted to their opposite and square sun signs.

❤ ❤ ❤

Sun quincunx Sun can add an air of mystery to the relationship which makes their partner appear very sexy if baffling at times.

❤ ❤ ❤

Sun quintile or biquintile can add an easy-going hamony to the relationship where they are able to see where the other is coming from whilst being vastly different in nature.

❤ ❤ ❤
