The Nodes and the Decision Making Process   Leave a comment

Karma stripped down to its basic meaning describes the decision-making process, where a choice is made and the consequences of that choice effect the future choices we make.  This is a process that starts from birth young children decide they want a toy and hit the other child to get it when the other child hits them back and refuses to play with them they begin to process the idea that this might not be the best way to go about getting a toy.  The next time they might want a toy they may decide to ask if the other wants to swap and if they say yes the consequences help them process that this is a much better way of doing things.

Our early childhood experiences affect the way we make choices and these are reflected in the sign, house and planets in aspect to the nodes. For example I have South Node in Virgo in 4th house conjunct Pluto, Jupiter and Uranus.  Intense experiences within the family (Pluto) colour my emotional responses and as such they have a strong influence on my decision-making process: how would I feel if this was happening to me, how is this behaviour or choice affecting others, I know how painful it is to experience this. I don’t like bullying I know what it feels like to be hurt. – these are all ways in which Pluto affects our decisions

I prefer computer games that rely on logic and thinking rather than a quick reflex response, that is part of my South Node in Virgo 4th house preference to reflect internally as part of the decision-making process.

With each decision we make there are consequences and these consequences are processed through the North Node my North Node is in Pisces in the 10th house trine Neptune and opposite Pluto, Jupiter and Uranus.  How does the consequences of my actions square up to what I hoped to achieve and what can I learn from this? The North Node in Pisces in the 10th house indicates I have difficulties viewing the consequences of my actions realistically, Pluto opposite the North Node means I may be emotionally sensitive to criticism and this may mean I have a tendency to blow any criticism out of proportion, Jupiter opposite North Node means I may have over high expectations of the consequences and may give up when they fail to meet my unrealistic expectations and Uranus in Opposition means I may refuse to let the consequences deter me if I believe what I am doing is important.  These issues affect how I incorporate the consequences of actions back into the decision-making process and they may show areas where there is great sensitivity to consequences.

This process changes throughout life as we deal with issues it lessens our sensitivity to criticism, as we learn how our intense emotional perspective can be used to manipulate our decision-making process we also adapt to become aware of this, learning to have more realistic expectations and moderate that Jupiter hope and enthusiasm also takes time.

The nodes describe our basic decision-making process and how it slowly evolves over time as each decision of the South Node meets the consequences of the North Node which it then incorporates slowly into the process in a continuous learning experience throughout life.

Neptune’s aura would like to thank the astral shaman for his input and contribution.
