‘Wise men say, only fools rush in, but I can’t help falling in love with you’

Mercury with Uranus rules the 5th Chakra, the throat Chakra. The throat Chakra is fed by the 4th Chakra the Heart in order for this Chakra to be effective the heart Chakra needs to be strong. Wisdom comes through love and she gives the greatest gifts.  She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her. My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.  Wisdom has built her house; she has carved its seven columns. – Proverbs

Zen teacher John Daido Loori said,

“Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva is the Hearer of the Cries of the World. And one of the characteristics of Avalokiteshvara is that she manifests herself in accord with the circumstances. So she always presents herself in a form that’s appropriate to what’s going on. In the Bowery, she manifests as a bum. Tonight, in barrooms across the country, she’ll manifest as a drunk. Or as a motorist on the highway, or as a fireman, or a physician. Always responding in accord with the circumstances, in a form appropriate to the circumstances. How is that?

“Every time there’s a stranded vehicle on the side of the road and a motorist stops to help Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva has manifested herself. Those characteristics of wisdom and compassion are the characteristics of all beings. All Buddhas. We all have that potential. It’s just a matter of awakening it. You awaken it by realizing there’s no separation between self and other.”

Do not think of the bodhisattva as a being separate from yourself. When we see and hear the suffering of others and respond to that suffering, we are the heads and arms of the bodhisattva.

There is a story about a statue of Jesus which lost its arms during WWII, after the war was ended people met to decide whether the statue should be replaced and after much discussion decided that the statue did not need arms as they themselves were his arms.

Wisdom works with compassion to reach her arms out to others in empathy and understanding.

Mercury conjunct the Sun,

This combines the energy of the 3rd chakra and the 5th chakra, the 3rd chakra has two branches the Sun and the moon. Mercury in aspect to the sun is all about investing our talents that they might reap the reward of wisdom.  We are all born with gifts and abilities to develop and share with others.  The parable of the talents tells us to use the gifts fruitfully and to appreciate them, the Talent was a large sum of money maybe even as much as a million dollars in today’s world it could have been used for much common good by the man who had one yet he buried it. The others who worked to develop and use those talents both doubled their worth or their fruitfulness, the 5th chakra is that of the fruits of wisdom we bear and to bear abundant fruit we need to use our talents and gifts.  Mercury’s next transit of the sun is 9th May 2016.

Mercury in aspect to the Moon,

This combines the energy of the 3rd chakra and the 5th chakra, the 3rd chakra has two branches the Sun and the moon. Mercury in aspect to the moon is all about realising we are all Buddhas, Jesus or God.  This is about seeing the divine in each other and understanding we are all family and we are all connected to one another.  This aspect is about understanding we are all interconnected and that real wisdom comes from listening to others by sharing and understanding each other we grow wise.  as children we are often told stories about our ancestors and our history, the myths and stories we are given from whichever culture we belong to all contain wisdom.  They are the gifts of our ancestors, given freely to each of us and this is what we too pass on to the next generations, the myths and stories that inspire, teach and define us.

Mercury in aspect to Venus,

healthy leaves contain the ability to produce the energy that is necessary to bear fruit.  The leaves of the tree is love and that is the 5th Chakra.  Wisdom comes from love and without love it is meaningless, Venus in aspect to Mercury ensures good fruit that is nourished by the light of love.  Here the words of Jesus explaining that it is not what is eaten that make us unclean but what is said, done and thought takes on great significance.  Wisdom is what we leave those that follow after us, it connects us to them down through the ages.  Buildings crumble and fall apart but wisdom lives on, it is the most loving thing we can leave future generations.  wisdom is not a list of do’s and don’t’s it is a way of understanding we are all precious, we all matter and we are all create from the universal light of love.  When we speak to others and they feel our love that is wisdom and it is the little things we say that often have the most meaning for those that follow.

Mercury in aspect to Mars,

this is aspecting the energy of life itself based in the root Chakra, if this energy is properly used it must be processed through the heart chakra before reaching the throat chakra.  The heart chakra ensures that the energy of compassion and altruism is completely unified. Compassion means suffer with or to be unified in passion / anger with another. When we unite our passion / anger with others we are motivated to speak out to demand justice and fairness for all.  At its best use this energy gives us the strength to speak out against the many for the rights of the few.  Uncontrolled this is the verbal expression of anger, many people either vent physically or vocally and inability to express anger verbally or complete verbal expression of uncontrolled anger may be indicated.

Mercury in aspect to Jupiter,

the second chakra the base chara in aspect to the 5th chakra is all about the creation of the fruit of wisdom, that gives vitality and energy to wisdom that it may nourish the seeds of the 6th and 7th chakras.  Through the 5th chakra we realise the potential of wisdom and knowledge in sowing the seeds of change within society as a whole.  This energizes individuals to speak out for the benefit of mankind especially against injustice and abuse of power.  Here there is a sense of faith in the ability of mankind to develop equality and justice in all communities and to make the world a more compassionate and just place to live.

Mercury in aspect to Saturn,

here the strength of the root is needed to develop the fruit of wisdom. Once upon a time there was an apple tree which God had created. It was a young tree without any leaves or fruit. One night the young tree saw the brilliant stars and was very unhappy. He wished for himself to have these sparkling stars on his branches so that he too would be beautiful. The next morning, God noticed that the tree was unhappy, and He said to him, “Let me make something for you. I will dress you up in a beautiful mantle of green so that you will be beautiful to behold. Then you will not be so unhappy.”  But the tree was not content with God’s plan. “I do not want a mantle of green, I want stars.” The next morning the tree saw that God had not given him stars, but green leaves. And the tree frowned upon it. Once again the tree said to God, “I want stars,” but instead, God gave him beautiful red fruit. The tree was even more unhappy. The wind saw how unhappy the apple tree was and the wind became unhappy too. The wind blew and tried to set the apple tree free of the leaves and the fruit, but he failed. However, as the wind blew, some of the leaves and fruit fell to the ground. One piece of fruit broke into two pieces right in the middle. When the tree looked upon the broken fruit, guess what he saw?  Inside the fruit was the shape of a star! Not only did the apple contain the star of wisdom but also the seeds of the 6th and 7th chakras.  Saturn here prunes back the dead and old branches in order for us to bear fruit.  It makes sure the root is strong enough and stable enough to support the fruit our tree grows.

Mercury in aspect to Uranus,

denotes a strong 5th chakra energy with the opportunity to develop greater understanding of the divine wisdom that surrounds us.  The individual has the ability to use the reason, love and wisdom he was born with to develop a strong ability to discern how he can best use his talents to create a better more humane society for all whether that be by practical means such as medicine or engineering, alternatively they may choose more abstract forms through which raising questions and challenging the beliefs and ideas of society may be part of art, politics or other arenas.  These individuals may have a strong inner voice that adds strength and dynamism to all they say and do.  In the system of the Sufi Lataif-e-sitta there are no Lataif in the throat, but there are three in the region of the heart which are arranged horizontally and not vertically. They are the galb or heart, which is the battleground between the lower forces of the Nafs and the higher forces of the Ruh or spirit; the Ruh which is said by some to be situated on the right hand side of the chest; and Sirr, or secret, between them both in the middle of the chest.  Lower forces of the Naf are the first three Chakras the 1st the realisation of physical battle of survival that all life shares, the 2nd the cycle of life and creativity to which all forms of life share and the 3rd the ego and emotional self or psyche that sets us apart from all other life.  Sirr or the secret would relate to the 5th Chakra where wisdom allows us to understand the importance of the lower chakras and to blend these vital energies with the energy of unconditional love within the heart chakra to form reason and wisdom that understands that real unconditional love and wisdom means accepting the importance of all these energies in everybody for without sustenance  of these chakras the soul or heart chakra withers.

Mercury in aspect to Neptune,

denotes learning about the different sources of knowledge and valuing them all, all who have walked before us have their own tale of their journey and what they have learnt along the way whether that was scientific, spiritual, philosophical, cultural they are all a source of valuable information.  There is an opportunity for the individual to find their own voice and begin telling their own unique story of what they have learnt from their ancestors and on their own journey through life.  Mercury provides an opportunity to understand we are all part of the one same story with our own individual wisdom and knowledge to share with each other.    Mercury gives us an opportunity to connect to all sources of wisdom and to understand their importance as part of the rich cultural heritage we all share as human beings.  When we come to the journey’s end Mercury’s understanding give us the opportunity to realise where the path leads and to be open and accepting of returning once more to the light of love.  Neptune here is bringing the energies of the 5th chakra into focus and defining their purpose in relation to seeking and giving wisdom.

Mercury in aspect to Pluto,

denotes learning an understanding off the purpose of spiritual wisdom or the wisdom of unconditional love.  The soul learns that it already knows all it ever needed to know, that it was born with inner wisdom and that it must quieten the negative voice that says it can’t and learn to trust the voice that tells it; it already knows the answers, that they reside deep within them already.  The soul learns to trust that what they need to know will be revealed to them and that what is not revealed is not meant for them to know.  The opportunity to understand that unconditional universal love is the source of all wisdom and we all have an access to that wisdom when needed may be developed here and much insight reached.  The soul has the potential of understanding that we were all born enlightened, that this knowledge was always inside of them.
