Astrological thoughts for Christmas   Leave a comment

With the square of Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn still in action this Christmas, its time to think about exactly what is being celebrated.   At the centre of every shopping mall we will find Santa, in palatial splendour as the God of shopping and consuming – the sacred rituals of Christmas.  As children line up to see him they are very unlikely to ask for peace on earth and goodwill to all mankind, rather than a branded product.  Tis the season of worshipping the brand, as Rudolph, Frosty and Santa preach their message of spend, spend, spend lest we offend the Great Santa upon high by choosing quantity over quality, or sully the sacred alter of Christmas with mass-produced offerings to our God instead of caring and craftsmanship.  How can we love our family and give our children an enchanted Christmas if we sully the alter with cheap goods unfitting of a God.  As we wait to hear the spiritual message of the season given to us from upon high by the great advertising men of ‘John Lewis’, ‘Macy’s’ or Department Store of choice perhaps it is time to reflect on just what teaching children, love = spending and material possessions means.

This Christmas as Saturn prepares to enter Sagittarius think on the realities of what we are teaching our children to believe in, Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all Men are not connected to one religion but was a reflection of commonly held values within the society and communities that people lived in. What values are we as a community and as a society giving the future generations and what impact will this have on their future.

With both Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, this is a time of healing and rediscovering the sacred, the sacred is not defined by God or religion but in being of worth to ourselves such as representing all that is good, important, inspiring and essential to having hope for the future.  The sacred is what inspires us, gives us hope for tomorrow and shapes our choices and desires in life.  The sacred is not required to be justified or rational but rather worthy in its symbolism of all that is good, and of value in mankind and in life itself.  The sacred cannot be found in the department store but within ourselves, and we all should take time this Christmas to find our own sacred values and to share them with others, through our actions and thoughts.
