Melancholia 5708   2 comments

Melancholia is translated as black bile, it is the description of long term sadness or depression and it was thought the body produced different humours or bile that caused certain illnesses. Winston Churchill famously called it the black dog.  Melancolic depression can be genetic, symptomatic of Bipolar disorder or caused by old age.

Melancholic depression is when the person feels emotionally dead and is unable to find the energy to do the simplest of tasks.

Many great men and woman battle with depression throughout their lives, perhaps one reason for the genius and energy they all have is it is their ammunition against living death while they have a purpose and an aim it easier to ride into battle each day.

I don’t like standing near the edge of a platform when an express train is passing through. I like to stand right back and if possible get a pillar between me and the train. I don’t like to stand by the side of a ship and look down into the water. A second’s action would end everything. A few drops of desperation.” – Winston Churchill

  1. you left out the neptune- melancholia aspects :C

    • Aspects to Neptune are likely to involve learning more about depression, they may include speaking out and becoming a voice for those with depression. Life experiences which change the person’s outlook on depression are also likely.
