Out of bounds moon the emotional fall-out of Aces too high   Leave a comment

With the out of bound moon the struggle of coping with the emotional residue from childhood can be expressed through comfort eating, drugs, alcohol or sex as a means of blocking/ escaping from emotions.

Oprah Winfrey has an OB Moon and her childhood issues and relationship to food is well documented.  Kurt Cobain also had an OB Moon and used drugs to escape from his emotions as did legendary blues singer Billie Holliday. Roman Polanski another OB moon – ‘I had just been visiting my grandmother … when I received a foretaste of things to come. At first I didn’t know what was happening. I simply saw people scattering in all directions. Then I realized why the street had emptied so quickly. Some women were being herded along it by German soldiers. Instead of running away like the rest, I felt compelled to watch.

One older woman at the rear of the column couldn’t keep up. A German officer kept prodding her back into line, but she fell down on all fours, … Suddenly a pistol appeared in the officer’s hand. There was a loud bang, and blood came welling out of her back. I ran straight into the nearest building, squeezed into a smelly recess beneath some wooden stairs, and didn’t come out for hours. I developed a strange habit: clenching my fists so hard that my palms became permanently calloused. I also woke up one morning to find that I had wet my bed.’

Edith Piaf also had an OB Moon Édith’s mother abandoned her at birth, and she lived for a short time with her maternal grandmother, Emma (Aïcha). Before her father enlisted with the French Army in 1916 to fight in World War I, he took her to his mother, who ran a brothel in Normandy. There, prostitutes helped look after Piaf.

From the age of three to seven, Piaf was allegedly blind as a result of keratitis. According to one of her biographies, she recovered her sight after her grandmother’s prostitutes pooled money to send her on a pilgrimage honouring Saint Thérèse of Lisieux. Piaf claimed this result was a miraculous healing.  In February 1933, when Edith was 17 years old, her daughter, Marcelle, known as Cécelle, was born in the Hôpital Tenon. Like her mother, Édith found it difficult to care for a child while living a life of the streets, as she had little maternal instinct, parenting knowledge, or domestic skills. She rapidly returned to street singing, until the summer of 1933, when she opened at Juan-les-Pins, Rue Pigalle.  Marcelle’s father, Louis, whom Edith never married, was incensed. They quarrelled and Edith left, taking Mômone (her half-sister) and Marcelle.

With out of bound moon the issues and patterns of childhood often recur throughout life. The individual when they have a source of friendship/ love and a caring environment can open up and receive the support they need to move forward.
